How to Migrate Your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to Messangi

Overview

If your company already uses WhatsApp Business through another Solution Provider and wants to migrate to Messangi, there are two possible paths depending on who owns your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA).

This article explains how to migrate your existing WABA to Messangi, including how to invite Messangi as a partner to your current WABA or, if needed, how Messangi can initiate the creation of a new WABA for your business.

Migrating your WABA allows you to retain your WhatsApp Business profile, verified status, phone number, and templates — ensuring minimal disruption to your operations.

Understanding WABA Ownership

A WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) is always owned by a Meta Business Account.
The business that owns the WABA can grant access to a Solution Provider (like Messangi) so the provider can manage messaging, templates, and billing through its credit line.

When migrating to Messangi, ownership of the WABA remains with your company, while Messangi receives the permissions necessary to operate and manage your messaging services.

Option 1: Invite Messangi as a Partner to Your Existing WABA

If your business already owns the WABA under your Meta Business Account, the migration process is simple. You only need to share the WABA with Messangi and grant the required permissions.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Obtain Messangi’s Business Portfolio ID
Your Messangi representative will provide you with our Business Portfolio ID.

  2. Access Meta Business Suite

    • Go to business.facebook.com

    • If you manage multiple business portfolios, select the correct one from the top-left dropdown.

  3. Navigate to WhatsApp Accounts

    • Go to Settings → Accounts → WhatsApp Accounts

    • Select your existing WABA or click Details

  4. Assign Messangi as a Partner

    • Click Assign Partner

    • Enter Messangi’s Business Portfolio ID

    • Enable Full Control permissions

    • Click Assign

  5. Confirm the Partner Assignment

    • A success message will confirm the WABA has been shared.

    • Under the Partners tab, verify that Messangi appears with the appropriate permissions.

  6. Notify Messangi

    • Let your Messangi representative know the WABA has been shared.

    • Messangi will then share its credit line with your WABA, allowing you to send and receive messages through Messangi’s platform.

Option 2: Messangi Initiates WABA Creation on Your Behalf

If your current Solution Provider owns your WABA (meaning it is under their Meta Business Account), the ownership cannot be transferred.
In this case, Messangi can initiate the creation of a new WABA for your business directly through Meta Business Suite. Once you approve the request, the new WABA will belong to your company, and Messangi will manage it as your official Solution Provider.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Share Your Meta Business ID with Messangi

    • Before Messangi can initiate the process, your business must provide its Meta Business ID to your Messangi representative.

    • You can find your Meta Business ID by visiting business.facebook.com/settings/info.

  2. Messangi Sends a WABA Creation Request

    • Using your Meta Business ID, Messangi will initiate a WABA creation request from its Meta Business Suite.

    • This request will appear in your company’s Meta Business Suite under Settings → Requests → Other Requests → Received.

  3. You Review and Accept the Request

    • Log in to business.facebook.com.

    • Go to Settings → Requests → Other Requests → Received.

    • Review the invitation and click Accept.

    • (Optional) Add and verify your business phone number during this step.

  4. WABA is Created Under Your Business Account

    • Once accepted, the WABA is automatically created under your Meta Business Account.

    • Messangi gains access with the permissions defined in the request.

  5. Messangi Adds or Confirms Your Business Phone Number

    • If no phone number was added during setup, Messangi can add one through WhatsApp Manager or via API.

  6. Messangi Shares Its Credit Line

    • Messangi connects its credit line to your WABA, enabling message delivery and billing through Messangi’s platform.

  7. Migration Complete

    • Once the credit line is shared, your WABA is fully active under your business ownership and ready to use with Messangi.

Important Notes

  • A WABA can be shared with up to two partners at the same time.

  • A WABA must belong to only one Meta Business Account.

  • Once a credit line is attached, the currency and timezone cannot be changed.

  • Business customers cannot add their own payment method to a WABA created through the Partner-Initiated method — Messangi will handle the credit line configuration.

  • Invitations not accepted within 90 days are automatically canceled.
